Secure and happy and independent

Babess and I arrived at daycare to find Fainjin near the door, in the middle of a gaggle* of children, holding his jacket.  He waved it at me, and with a huge grin, said, “Hello Mama!  I going on a trip!”

As I helped him put on the jacket and then waved goodbye, a little bit of me ruefully reflected on how grown-up my toddler has become.  It was almost drowned out by the larger part of me celebrating that he knows he can take exciting opportunities like an impromptu trip, he doesn’t need to seize every possible moment with his mother because she will always be there.  It really helps me to believe that we have found a great balance of daycare and home life for him.

*a riot? a confusion? a demanding of toddlers? an excitement of pre-schoolers?
