Gadget Girl

Babess loves to push buttons.  And not just mine.  She loves phones, remote controls, and radios.  Any buttons she can get her fingers to.

If I’m on the phone, she doesn’t want to just say “Hello” to whomever is on the other end, she wants to push all the buttons and cut us off.  If I’m on the computer, she is grabbing at the mouse and clicking me to random destinations on the internet.  I’m grateful we don’t have a panic button on our car key-remote control, as she would have set it off several times by now (her big sister did, at about the same age, one Saturday morning when we were still in bed and she was playing… neighbours came to investigate, it was embarrassing).

This afternoon, I heard an exasperated “No, Babess!” from the lounge, where the older two were meant to be watching a cartoon.  There were no further complaints, so I assumed she had ceased whatever was bothering them.  Then, after a while, she appeared next to me, happily pushing buttons on the TV remote.  I took it back to the lounge, and found the older two sullenly staring at the electronic programme guide, while something unlikely (possibly the Bible channel) played in the background.  Watching TV is enough of a treat that I think they were reluctant to attract too much attention in case it was switched off again – and even the EPG was better than no TV on a dull foggy afternoon after a stressful week!

Yeah, poor deprived little darlings! It was so funny I was tempted to leave them like that and call in their father to see 😀
