Merry Christmas!

Last night, Pearl came with me to the late service at church.  She had slept first, and been woken in the middle of the night (about 10pm) to come out, so it was all very exciting.  The church service was candlelit, small and lovely, and finished just after midnight.

We got home and checked the Norad website to see where Santa was.  At that point he was in Fiji.  Pearl sat down for a slice of cake and a cup of hot chocolate before bed, and told her Dad about the service.  We’d decided that he would stay home so the babies could sleep – Fainjin in particular had not been good about going to bed, and we didn’t want to wake him to have that performance all over again.

I checked the website again, and saw that Santa was expected near us in just under a minute.  Pearl was upset, “I’ll never finish my hot chocolate and brush my teeth and get to bed on time!”  So I told her to quickly go into her bedroom and snuggle under the covers, we would turn out the lights and all pretend to be asleep so Santa would still come.  Quick as a flash, she was in her bed – fully clothed.  We turned out the lights, and waited until the tracking website had told us that Santa was safely in another city.  Then we turned lights back on, Pearl finished her hot chocolate, and we all brushed teeth and went to bed again.  I had thought she might be desperate to check the tree, and was prepared for that, but it didn’t occur to her.

Today she has been telling everyone how she heard footsteps and bells but didn’t peek.

May you and all those important to you have a happy, healthy, and safe Christmas.

I tracked Santa LOOOOOOONG after Boo was in bed. It was so awesome!

As soon as Boo saw that he took off from the north pole (at 6pm) he locked himself in his room!

    Merry Christmas babe.
