Lights-out time

All the children get “reading time” when they go to bed.  They all protest at lights-out, usually.

Tonight, Babess was sitting up in her cot, surrounded by books as usual, reading one with great delight.  Fainjin was already asleep.

“Lights-out time, Babess,” I warned, as I checked Fainjin was safe & snug under his quilt.

“Okay!” she chirped.  There was a pause, then cheerily: “Are we going to sleep now?”

“Yes, time to go to sleep,” I assured her.  She grinned and pulled her quilt up over her head (her preferred position for sleeping).

“Okay Mummy.  Good night!”

It was remarkably easy.  Of course, I did hear her singing about 20 minutes later…
