We had a rough day yesterday.
The Dad broke his “elbone”, as the little ones call it. It was also almost-dislocated and needed to be put back in joint. While we were waiting in the Emergency Department, daycare called to tell us that Fainjin was vomiting and needed to be collected.
Our wonderful family and friends swung into action and rescued children from various places, fed them and put them to bed, holding down (and hosing down) the fort while I followed The Dad from Emergency to Radiology to Emergency to Fracture Clinic to Radiology to the ward, with long waits everywhere and in-between, trying to coordinate operations by cellphone.
Fainjin has been fine today, perhaps a little pale at times but eating normally (for him) with no further ill-effects. I kept Babess at home too, just because I couldn’t manage the trip to daycare and back.
The three of us pottered around at home, with the company of a lovely friend for most of the day, just waiting for news and – in my case – starting things and forgetting half-way through what it was that I was doing. Pearl went to school and had a good day, she got to meet her teacher for next year and likes her so that’s a good start.
The Dad came home from hospital in the late afternoon, so we are all together again and much happier for it. Things are going to be tricky for a while with a one-handed parent, but we’ll manage. We’re hoping that Fainjin’s tummy bug was quickly over and not shared!
Tales of the cute and adorable will resume shortly.

Oh noes! It seems that this stuff always all happens at the same time, doesn’t it? Your poor family. Hang in there and love to you all, especially those of the tummy bug and the one arm. And you. Definitely you.

At least he doesn’t have to help with Christmas. That can be his Christmas present.

Yeah… tradition is, we go to my parents’ place for breakfast on Christmas morning. NO IDEA how we are going to get there now (I don’t drive, and it’s a fair distance). Oh well, we’ll sort something out.

Oh NO! So sorry to hear this! Hugs to the dad 🙂 . And to all of you. Good luck and I hope it heals quickly. (and that nobody else gets that bug.)
Thinking of all of you.

Many thanks 🙂 Fainjin is all better, and no-one else has come down with it (fingers crossed). Hugs to all of you, too!

You’re quick! 😉
Yesterday was the daycare Christmas concert. 🙂 And it was as adorable as it sounds. Wish we could come sing for you!

I need to fix my skype! For some reason it’s not working for me on my ‘puter…
You know how every one of these concerts has one kid standing in the front, dancing to the beat of his/her own drummer? … Yes, that was ours. 😀
