Speak with confidence, you might be believed

It was a lovely day today.  But tomorrow and the next day are going to be less so, we’re told, because the remnants of two tropical cyclones are making their way(s) towards us.

Given that, we decided to take the kids to the park by the beach this evening to enjoy the weather while we have it.  After dinner we packed up the scooters and trikes – and children – and headed down for a good old run-around.  I took Babess down the loooong slide, it was great fun.  I haven’t done it before, it’s usually a Daddy thing for some reason.  I didn’t know what I was missing!

As the light started to fade, we rounded them all up again and went for a drive to see whether we could see any whales or dolphins.  Fainjin added to the wishlist: “or sharks or seals or fish”.  We didn’t see any of those, and not even a penguin peeked at us even though dusk is meant to be the most dangerous time for them as they risk their lives crossing the roads to their nests.

We headed home again, and I said, “Now when we get home, you can have a drink of milk and a piece of cake, then get into your pyjamas and brush your teeth, and it’ll be story-time then bed-time.”

Babess’ voice then added in a very matter-of-fact, reasonable tone, “And then it will be ice-cream time.”

Nice try, kiddo.
